Pieczynski Wins Doylestown Open

With only twelve players left on the course, including sponsor Kevin McClellan (Cutter & Buck), the siren sounded and the wind, rain and storm hit. After a rain delay of over an hour, nine of the players returned to the course to finish their rounds. None of them could match the 5-under par 67's turned in by two teaching professsionals earlier in the day. Greg Pieczynski (Academy of Golf) who teed off at 10:00 am and Stu Ingraham (M Golf Range and Learning Center) who went at 10:10am both had waited a long time for their sudden death playoff.

The playoff started on the par 5-18th hole where both went for the green in two. Pieczynski's ball found the green while Ingraham's finished pin high in the right rough. Ingraham chipped his third shot to within two feet. Once both players were on the green Pieczynski was the first to putt. Pieczynski's first putt ended up short leaving himself about two and a half feet for his birdie, which he made. Ingraham's putt for birdie went 360 degrees around the hole but failed to fall into the cup.
Ingraham parred the hole and lost the playoff. In the senior division, Radnor Valley CC professional George Forster shot a 1-under par 71 to beat Huntingdon Valley CC's Jack Connelly by two shots (+1-73). On another note Bala GC assistant professional Bill Walker had a hole in one on the 173 yard par 3 second hole with a 9-iron.
