Lehigh CC Duo wins Pro-Assistant Pro Championship |
Wayne Phillips, Lehigh CC head professional and his assistant Dave Olexson fired an 11-under par 61 in the Pro-Assistant Pro Championship at The ACE Club in Lafayette Hill, PA. It was good enough to beat the team of Philadelphia Country Club head professional Jay Horton and his assistant Patrick Brosnihan by one shot. Phillips and Olexson each had six birdies and Olexson eagled the 427 yard par 4 thirteenth hole for the win.
Brosnihan had seven birdies with a run of 5 in a row from holes 8 through 12, Horton added three more in their losing bid. Both teams played in the a.m. shotgun. The wind picked up as the day went on and the closest any of the teams from the p.m. shotgun got was five behind at 6-under par-66. There were eighty teams vying for the title in the four-ball competition (better ball of partners), sponsored by Club Car Inc and Golf Cars, Inc, Cutter & Buck and Srixon/Cleveland Golf. |
