Section Members,
Hang in there, Spring is on the way! We are only a month away from our Spring Meeting and before you know it the golf season will be upon us.
We are still going to be faced with challenges at our clubs in 2010. I ask you all during this difficult time to try to do something different. We can’t continue doing the same things year after year. It gets stale, and it is not good enough. Challenge your staff to try and come up with new ideas to improve your facility and the experience for your members.
I would like to congratulate all of our Special Award winners. I had the honor of calling them personally to let them know that they had won. It was fun to be able to share some great news with our very deserving award winners. This year we had a record number of Professionals nominated which presented a daunting task for the Special Awards Committee. Special thanks go out to Ian Dalzell and the committee for their time and hard work.
We had a Membership Committee meeting a few weeks ago and I would like to share some very important information about the new PGM program.
The new PGM program began in January. Anyone that registers after January 1st, will be entered into the new program. The old program will be phased out over the next 3½ years.
Here are the deadline dates:
Level 1 checkpoints will be conducted until June, 2011
Level 2 checkpoints will be conducted until June, 2012
Level 3 checkpoints will be conducted until June, 2013
If you are in the old program and you miss the deadline to complete your checkpoint (1, 2 or 3) you will be transitioned into the new program and will start at Level 1.
If Level 1 apprentices do not attend a checkpoint by the above date, they will transfer into the new program and must pay a transfer fee to access the Qualifying Courses and the Level 1 pre-seminar courses. Apprentices would be required to take the qualifying test and complete the pre-seminar courses before they attend the new PGA PGM Level 1 seminars at the PGA Education Center.
If you are an apprentice or have apprentices that work for you, you need to understand the changes that have taken place.

Take the time to review this as a staff so everyone is aware of the changes.
