Deibert Successfully Defends Woodcrest Title

Travis Deibert , assistant professional at Commonwealth National Golf Club, successfully defended his title at the Woodcrest Invitational tournament held at Woodcrest CC in Cherry Hill, NJ.  The 39th annual tournament, which benefits the Jewish Community Center Camp and Scholarship fund through "Open Hearts Open Doors" is a two-day thirty-six hole event for the professionals. The first round of the event is a pro-am with the professional playing a two-best ball net game with four amateurs.  The winners of the pro-am were professional John Spina (Philadelphia Cricket Club) with amateur partners Ben Levin, Bill Hyland, Marc Shapiro and George Forster.  They finished with a 27-under par 115 beating the team from the host club lead by professional Dick Smith, Jr with partners Charlie Rose, Mike Minoff, Chuck Blackman and Rich Mandel by two shots (117).  Travis shot a 4-under par 67 in the pro-am to lead Woodcrest assistant Don Allan, Little Mill CC pro George Frake and Sunnybrook GC pro John Allen by one shot going into the second round.  Kevin Syring, head pro at Alpine CC in NJ, an invitee to the event, shot the low second round also a 4-under par 67.  Deibert added a 1-under par 70 to his 67 for a 5-under par 137 total a a one shot win over Greg Farrow (Deerwood CC) 69-69-138 and Frake who had added a 70 to his 68 for a 138 total both at 3-under par.  Farrow took the win in the Senior division by three shots over second place finisher Stu Ingraham (M Golf Center) who had a 72-69-141.
