Overbrook G.C.’s Trevor Bensel, PGA, and James Furness Team to Win 2021 Philadelphia Pro-Scratch Championship

Bethlehem, Pa. (June 28, 2021) — Amid temperatures in the 90s, PGA Member Trevor Bensel, Overbrook G.C., teamed with amateur James Furness to win the 2021 Philadelphia PGA Pro-Scratch Championship at Saucon Valley Country Club.

The hot and humid weather did not appear to affect Bensel and Furness, who combined for six birdies to finish with a team score of 65, 6-under-par, on Saucon Valley’s Old Course, to win by one stroke over four teams. Bensel shot a 67 on his own golf ball.

Teams tying for second place included Galloway National G.C., Alex Scarlett, PGA, and Bill Burke; Medford Lakes C.C., Trevor Alexander, PGA, and Michael Zupi; West Shore C.C., Jordan Shuey and Matthew Plummer; and the PGA Tour, Tom Carpus, PGA, and Ben Feld.

One of the day’s highlights came from Jonathon Jordan, playing alongside Kennett Square G. & C.C.’s Jesse Hackett, PGA, who made his first-ever hole-in-one on the Old Course’s fourth hole. Jordan used an 8-iron from 150 yards.

Four additional teams tied for sixth place two strokes behind the champions.
