As COVID-19 has spread across our Section, state, nation and world, much has occurred over the past two weeks that has directly affected not only the Philadelphia PGA Section, but you, our PGA Members and Associates. The Section is here to help provide you with as much updated and accurate information as possible to help you and your facilities navigate this difficult period of our history. For your convenience, various resources and information on the COVID-19 pandemic are included in this edition of the Section newsletter. Additional Notes: The Delaware Valley Open will be played simultaneously with round one of the Philadelphia Senior PGA Professional Championship. Players competing in the Senior Championship will tee off first (8:00-9:20 a.m.), with DVO competitors following (9:30-9:50 a.m. and 12:30-2:20 p.m.).

Players who are eligible may compete in both the DVO and Senior Championship as long as they're registered for both events.

Senior Championship competitors should not select a tee time when registering for the DVO as they will be assigned a tee time by Section staff. Registration opens for the Senior Championship on Wednesday, April 22.

For events not yet officially postponed or cancelled, the Section staff plans to make decisions at least two weeks prior to the event dates. Please remain safe and stay healthy as were all are looking forward to seeing you on the golf course as soon as it's safe. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call or email.

Golf Relief Fund Update

The Golf Emergency Relief Fundinitiated through a lead pledge by the PGA of America and supported by other industry organizations, has been established to provide short-term financial assistance to certain individuals facing significant financial hardship with an initial focus on those impacted by COVID-19. Managed by E4E Relief, the fund will provide grants to industry professionals, inclusive of golf association members, employees of local / state golf associations, caddies and certain professionals playing on developmental tours to help offset financial hardships, such as living and medical expenses.

Based on the thousands of registrants, funds currently allocated to Phase 1 of the Fund are now capped. Phase 2 is forthcoming and will distribute grants of up to $3,500 as reviewed and approved by E4E. Please note that although Phase 2 is more of a needs based analysis and not the same type of first come, first serve process as Phase 1, the Fund does encourage applicants to submit early in the process as grants will be approved on a rolling basis.

If you know someone who would be interested in donating, please send them to Relief.golf.

New Facebook Group: Philadelphia PGA Lesson Tee

The Philadelphia PGA Section has created a new Facebook group, Philadelphia Section PGA Lesson Tee, that allows golfers, consumers, club members and students to access lessons, tips, and best practices provided by you, the PGA Professional.

The Philadelphia Section PGA Lesson Tee Facebook group is publicly accessible but will be monitored by the Section staff. All comments will be turned off on posts and posts will be approved before they go public to prevent consumers from posting. We will start to promote it to the public after we give our PGA Members and Associates a chance to submit content. We hope you find this a helpful and an efficient way to engage consumers and PGA Professional on what you are doing on social platforms.
