PGA REACH Philadelphia foundation
Program Overview
The Philadelphia Section PGA and the Golf Association of Philadelphia created this program in their continued efforts to grow the game of golf. The curriculum was developed by PGA Professionals and is designed to introduce the game to students of all skill levels. The objective of the Golf in Schools program is to introduce kids to the game of golf and the mental and physical health benefits that this lifelong sport provides.
The Program includes instruction from a PGA Professional and a comprehensive golf curriculum which utilizes whole-part teaching. This involves a demonstration of the whole skill first, and the breakdown of the skill into parts so it can be seen, understood, and executed properly by the student. The curriculum is broken down into five lessons and covers areas including wellness, integrated skills, human relationships, motor skill development and fitness.
