Rules and Regulations

Rules and Regulations for the Member Service Requirement, (MSR), as defined by the Board of Directors:

    1. One hour per hour of service or participation as defined by the chart below.
    2. A Section may require that all Section and Chapter activities be approved in advance.
    3. Based on previously approved activities, established guidelines and Section recommendations, the National Office will approve the hours to be awarded for a certain activity. The Board of Control will determine the number of hours in all disputes.
    4. A participant may receive compensation for an activity, however this activity shall be voluntary and shall not be the participant’s primary employment.
    5. Members who serve at least one year of a three year MSR cycle as a National Board of Director, a National Board of Control Member, or as a Section Officer are exempt from any MSR requirements for that cycle.
    6. Fifty Four (54) hours are required for a three-year cycle.

Activity

Hours Earned

#1: Attending a National, Section, Chapter or Allied Association Meeting. (Includes committee and board meetings).

2 hour for every hour of attendance with the following restrictions:
8 hours maximum for a National Meeting 
6 hours maximum for a Section meeting 
4 hours maximum for a Chapter meeting

#2: Serving the Section, Chapter, National PGA or Allied Association. (Such as non-playing Tournament Official)

1 per hour of service with a maximum of 4 hours per day

#3: Attending a National, Section or Allied Association Merchandise Show.

2 hours per show with no limitation on the number of shows

#4: Participating in Growth of the Game programs and/or service to the Chapter, Section, National PGA or community such as radio shows, TV shows, speeches, golf promotional events, golf clinics and other volunteer activities.

1 per hour of participation with a maximum of 8 hours per day

#5: Serving as a volunteer golf coach or assistant golf coach of a high school or college golf team.

1 per hour of service with a maximum of 6 hours per MSR cycle year

#6: Completing a National or Section survey. The Board of Control must approve Section surveys.

1 hour for each survey with no maximum limitations

#7: Magazine and newspaper articles published within a MSR cycle.

1 hour for each article with no maximum limitations.

#8: Participation in designated golf events approved by the Section. The Section may approve up to two events per year.

2 hours per event with a maximum of 4 hours per MSR cycle year.

#9: Serving as an instructor, coordinator or speaker at a National, Section, Chapter or Allied Association education or self-improvement seminar.

1 per hour of service with no maximum limitations

#10: Participating in a career specific education course as an attendee.

1 hour for each hour of participation with a maximum of 8 hours per day
