Paoli, Pa. (April 6, 2026) — The Philadelphia PGA Section officially started its PGA Professional tournament season following the conclusion of its 2026 Spring Membership Meeting at Waynesborough Country Club on Monday, kickstarting the Section’s action-packed calendar, highlighted by the 108th PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club, May 11-17.

Over 225 PGA of America Golf Professionals gathered in Chester County to conduct the Section’s official business. Section President Bob Hennefer of Laurel Creek Country Club, led the meeting along with Vice President Eric Kennedy, Overbrook Golf Club; and Secretary Dustin McCormick, Glen Brook Golf Club. Director of Section Affairs Anthony Malizia, Bidermann Golf Club, honored the Section’s 2025 awards class, headlined by PGA Golf Professional of the Year Michael Caldwell of DuPont Country Club. President Hennefer encouraged the membership to volunteer for and engage with the upcoming PGA Championship, as well as the PGA HOPE Secretary’s event for military veterans at Chester Valley Golf Club on May 11.

Philadelphia PGA Executive Director Geoff Surrette, PGA, updated the membership on recent changes to the Section’s staff, including the retirements of longtime Assistant Executive Director Barb Creveling and Membership Director Sue Unger, who retired with 25 and 23 years of service, respectfully. PGA REACH Philadelphia’s Courtney Curcio has been promoted to assistant executive director, while Matt Frey, PGA, assumes the role of director of operations, and will responsible for communications, marketing, and membership. Cassie Vogel has been elevated to operations manager, and will continue to assist Frey with MarComm operation, as well as partnerships and membership matters. The Philadelphia PGA Junior Tour has named a new director in Zac Zerbo, assistant director in David Messina, and tournament manager in Ryan Conroy. The Section brought on former PGA WORKS Fellow Emmett Noone as a full-time foundation coodinator, and has hired Nardimar Koch as controller. Following the conclusion of the meeting, a field of 160 PGA of America Golf Professionals teed it up in a two-person scramble at Waynesborough and nearby White Manor Country Golf Club. At Waynesborough, Anthony Sebastianelli, Whitford Country Club, and Brian Bergstol, Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort, finished with a team score of 9-under-par 62 to take the top prize by two strokes over Tessa Teachman, Aronimink Golf Club, and Andrew Cornish, Green Valley Country Club; Bob Hennefer and Curtis Kirkpatrick, Medford Lakes Country Club; and John F. Byrne Golf Course’s Anthony Hoffman and Rocco Sgrillo. Merion Golf Club’s Joanna Coe and Nick Iacono finished four strokes behind the champions, in a tie for fifth place with Tavistock Country Club’s Mike Meisenzahl and Bryan Mattingly.

At White Manor, two teams tied for first place at 10-under-par: Zac Oakley, Bidermann Golf Club, and Braden Shattuck, Rolling Green Golf Club; and DuPont Country Club’s Matt Finger and Kaden Kinard. Michael Rushin, Bear Trap Dunes, and Will Scarborough, Peninsula Golf and Country Club, finished in third place, one stroke behind the winners. Three teams tied for fourth place at 7-under-par: Philadelphia Country Club’s Scott Reilly and Brenden Mitchell; Old York Road Country Club’s Jared Murosky and Nick Parga; and Dave Quinn, Laurel Creek Country Club, and Joe Kogelman, GOLFTEC – Moorestown.

Lower Gwynedd, Pa. (April 5, 2026) — The Philadelphia PGA Section has announced a series of leadership elevations and staff transitions designed to enhance the Section’s service to its PGA of America Golf Professionals and the local golf community. These strategic changes reflect the Section’s commitment to operational excellence and the continued growth of its charitable arm, the PGA of America REACH Foundation Philadelphia, and the Delaware Valley’s premier youth golf tour, the Philadelphia PGA Junior Tour.

Entering her 10th season with the Section, Courtney Curcio has been elevated to assistant executive director. In this expanded role, Curcio will take on broader administrative responsibilities for the Section while continuing her impactful work as the lead for PGA REACH Philadelphia.

Also joining the senior leadership team, Matt Frey, PGA, has been promoted to director of operations. Frey will oversee the Section’s day-to-day internal functions while maintaining his leadership of the Communications and Marketing Department. Alongside Frey, Cassie Vogel has been named operations manager; she will work directly under Frey and assist with communications, marketing, partnerships, and membership. Frey and Vogel will now serve as the primary points of contact for all PGA Membership-related inquiries and support.

To ensure the continued success of one of the country’s most active PGA Professional tournament schedules, several key promotions have been made within the Tournament Department: Zac Zerbo has been promoted to Philadelphia PGA Junior Tour director, while David Messina steps into the role of assistant Philadelphia PGA Junior Tour director. Ryan Conroy has also been elevated to tournament manager. Luke Montalbano continues his leadership as tournament director, supported by Assistant Tournament Director Joe Sponheimer.

The Section is also pleased to announce the permanent hiring of Emmett Noone, who transitions from his role as a PGA WORKS fellow to a full-time foundation coordinator. Noone will work alongside Erin Martin to expand the reach of the Section’s foundation programs.

Additionally, the Section welcomes Nardimar Koch as the new controller, where she will manage the Section’s financial operations and fiscal health.

Lower Gwynedd, Pa. (April 3, 2026) — The Philadelphia PGA Section announces the retirement of longtime Section Executive Director Barb Creveling, concluding a distinguished career spanning two and a half decades of service to the Section’s nearly 900 PGA of America Golf Professionals and the regional golf community.

Creveling, who joined the Section staff in 2000, has been a cornerstone of the organization’s financial operations. During her 25-year tenure, she played a vital role in the Section’s growth, overseeing essential functions including financial management and office operations. Her leadership was instrumental in navigating the Section through numerous transitions, including the implementation of new financial systems and the expansion of the Philadelphia PGA Junior Tour and the PGA of America REACH Foundation Philadelphia.

“Barb has been the backbone of our office for 25 years,” said Philadelphia PGA Executive Director Geoffrey Surrette, PGA. “Her dedication to our PGA Members and Associates is unmatched. Whether she was managing the day-to-day finances or ensuring our office ran flawlessly, Barb’s commitment to excellence and her steady hand have been vital to our success. We will deeply miss her expertise and, more importantly, her friendship.”

In addition to her operational roles, Creveling was known among Section members for her personalized approach to service. She worked closely with dozens of Section presidents and boards of directors, providing continuity and institutional knowledge that helped the Philadelphia PGA maintain its status as one of the premier Sections within the PGA of America.

The Section honored Creveling’s impending retirement during the 2025 Fall Membership Meeting at Indian Valley Country Club, where she received a standing ovation from her peers and colleagues.

Lower Gwynedd, Pa. (April 2, 2026) — PGA REACH Philadelphia is pleased to introduce five new recipients of the REACH Impact Scholarship: Autumn Jue, Wayne, Pa.; Layton Ng, Huntingdon Valley, Pa.; Isaiah Scott, Philadelphia, Pa.; Elyse Turner, Philadelphia, Pa.; and Josiah Zimmerman, Camp Hill, Pa.

The REACH Impact Scholarship, formerly named the Philadelphia PGA Junior Tour Diversity Scholarship, seeks to make the game of golf more inclusive by opening doors and fostering opportunities in the industry for junior golfers. Established in 2019, as part of the scholarship, all recipients receive a free membership to the Philadelphia PGA Junior Tour, seven free entries into tournaments on the junior tour each year up until the age of 18, a PGA of America Golf Professional mentor to guide them on their golf journey, and new equipment.

This year’s class is supported by our partners Women Golfers Give Back and Valley Forge Tourism and Convention. The golf equipment is sponsored by the 1854 Foundation and purchased through Bill Lee, PGA at Cobra Puma Golf. We are also grateful to partner with both the First Tee Chapters of Greater Philadelphia and Delaware to cover the costs of two tournaments and a membership for all active members.

Also new for the 2026 season is the addition of support from Watson Links to further grow and develop our mentorship program as a whole. They provide framework for mentor meet-ups as well as an online app to streamline the scheduling and communication process.

“It’s so rewarding to see how much this program has expanded,” said Foundation Director Courtney Curcio. “The generosity of our supporters is what makes these scholarships possible, giving local kids a real chance to change their lives through golf. We aren’t just teaching a game; we’re showing them what’s possible for their future.”

The 2026 REACH Impact Scholarship recipients include:

	Autumn Jue is fifteen years old and lives in Wayne, Pa. She has been golfing for two years and is grateful for the community it has given her. She loves the sport for the way it challenges her, both in patience, perseverance and in critical thinking.
	Layton Ng is nine years old and resides in Huntingdon Valley, Pa. He loves golf because every swing is a new chance to hit a great shot and see improvement every time he plays. He also enjoys the way golf allows him to spend time outside and have fun on the course.
	Isaiah Scott is a fifteen-year-old from Philadelphia, Pa. and is newer to the game of golf. In his short time playing the sport, he has developed a deep passion and enthusiasm for playing and even joined his high school team at Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia Charter School.
	Elyse Turner is seventeen and resides in Philadelphia, Pa.. She has been golfing for three years competitively and loves the constant challenge the game brings to her. Recently she was featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer for her work with We Golf Now, a nonprofit program.
	Josiah Zimmerman, who is thirteen years of age and from Camp Hill, Pa., has been interested in golf since he was fifteen months old. He is eager to keep learning about the sport so he can teach his friends and family and share his love for the game.
