Hertzog, Drescher Team to Win 2022 A.B. Thorn Memorial Pro-Am

Lancaster, Pa. (September 22, 2022) — PGA Member Terry Hertzog, and his amateur partner Zak Drescher, teamed to win the 2022 A.B. Thorn Memorial Pro-Am at Lancaster Country Club in difficult conditions.

The annual tournament was first played in 1936 under the moniker “Lancaster Pro-Am,” and has since changed to its current name to memorialize A.B. Thorn, Lancaster’s former PGA Head Professional, who also held the Section’s first vice president position in 1942-1944.

Hertzog and Drescher’s Four Ball score, 4-under-par 66, was impressive, as the field had to battle off-and-on rain, and consistently strong winds, with gusts around 25 miles per hour. Both Hertzog and Drescher were responsible for two birdies each (Nos. 13 and 18, and Nos. 7 and 8, respectively), and zero bogies.

Three teams tied for second place at 3-under-par: Hugo Mazzalupi, PGA, Linfield National G.C., and Scott Storck; John Spina, PGA, Philadelphia Cricket Club, and Kevin Kelly; and Tom Michaels, PGA, Berkshire C.C., and Nathan Sutherland. Lancaster C.C.’s Matt Goudie, PGA, and Marc Oliveri; tied for fifth place at 2-under-par with C.C. of York’s Parks Price, PGA, and Rij Patel.

The 2022 A.B. Thorn Memorial Pro-Am is supported by Holderness & Bourne, and Ohana Farm LLC. The Philadelphia PGA Section and its PGA Professionals thank our host, Lancaster Country Club, its members, management, host PGA Professionals, and staff, as well as our partners, as the event would not have been possible without their support.
