Bob Hennefer, PGA, Leads Team to Win 2021 Philadelphia PGA Professional-Junior Championship

Phoenixville, Pa. (July 8, 2021) — PGA Member Bob Hennefer, Laurel Creek C.C., teamed with junior amateurs Bobby Dominy, Matt Normand, and Tyler Smith to win the 2021 Philadelphia PGA Professional-Junior Championship at Rivercrest Golf Club & Preserve.

The format for the event was a three-player scramble amongst the youth golfers on the team. Each team’s PGA Professional had to play their own ball until holed, however, their youth teammates had the opportunity to play their approaches from their PGA Professional’s drives.

The strong competitive field did not appear to phase the Laurel Creek group, a team which won by five strokes with a final score of 55, 16-under-par. Sitting at 15-under-par on the final hole, Normand’s drive came within 100 yards of the green. His second shot landed within three feet of the hole, which allowed for an easy tap-in team birdie.

Saucon Valley C.C.’s Mike Furey, PGA, and his junior partners, Cohen Resch, Evan Eichenlaub, Colin Zavacky, finished in second place with a final score of 60. PGA Member Hugo Mazzalupi, Patriots Glen National G.C., in a group with his son, Shaun Mazzalupi, and Grayson Wingert, and Danny Dilella, finished tied for third place at 9-under-par with host PGA Professional Jamie Komancheck, and his team of Charlie Ferrise, Colby Komancheck, and Justin Lejeune.

The 2021 Philadelphia PGA Professional-Junior Championship is supported by the PGA Tour. The Philadelphia PGA Section and its PGA Professionals thank our partners, Rivercrest G.C. & Preserve, its membership, management, staff, and host PGA Professional staff, as the event would not have been possible without their support.
