PGA of America Announces Three Career Consultants to PGA Career Services Department
Frisco, Texas (October 5 ,2023) – The PGA of America today announced three additions to the staff of Career Consultants in its PGA Career Services Department: Joe Doughty, PGA, covering the New Jersey and Philadelphia Sections; Stephen Limpach, PGA, the Northern Texas PGA Section; and Doug Wert, PGA, the Georgia PGA Section. The PGA Career Services Department comprises 27 field consultants strategically located across the country to forge stronger relationships with PGA of America Golf Professionals and employers.
PGA Career Services offers a toolbox of invaluable resources to meet the hiring requirements demanded by employers today, while better serving employers, PGA of America Members and individuals seeking to gain employment within the golf industry. The Department was created to assist golf industry professionals over their entire careers, while creating lifelong partnerships with employers to support their needs in today’s golf economy.
“With over 60 years of industry knowledge, these well-respected PGA of America Golf Professionals bring a wealth of golf industry experience to the PGA Career Services Department as the PGA of America remains committed to supporting and promoting careers in every sector of the golf industry,” said PGA of America President John Lindert, PGA Director of Golf at The Country Club of Lansing in Lansing, Michigan. “These key additions will help our Association further establish stronger relationships within the golf industry, while ensuring that PGA of America Members are prepared and equipped to advance their career path to the highest level.”
The department continues to add resources and specialty services, highlighted by ExecuSearch powered by the PGA of America, a premium executive placement service for the golf industry. In 2022, the department hired regional recruitment specialists responsible for working with corporations, universities, high schools, PGA of America Partners and other related organizations and associations to further educate relevant audiences on the pathway to PGA of America membership and the diverse employment opportunities available in the $102 billion-dollar golf industry, which employs approximately 2 million in the USA.

Joe Doughty, PGA, will be serving as the Career Consultant for the New Jersey and Philadelphia Sections. A PGM graduate from Pennsylvania State University, Joe completed internships at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, N.J.; Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pa.; Congressional Country Club in Potomac, Md.; and Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale, N.Y., working for some of the Association’s best mentors and leaders. Following graduation, he added stops at The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Conn.; Bonita Bay Club in Naples, Fla.; Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa.; and Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J., learning a broad scope of responsibilities that will translate perfectly into the role of Career Consultant.
Stephen Limpach, PGA, is a PGA Certified Professional in General Management and will serve as the Career Consultant for the Northern Texas PGA Section. Stephen officially started with the PGA of America over 10 years ago and has played a key role within the Section Business Operations department since its inception. He has been involved with numerous resources that serve and support PGA of America Sections and PGA Members. Born and raised in Kentucky, he became hooked on the game after attending the 2000 PGA Championship at Valhalla. He is a graduate of the PGM Program at NC State University and completed internships at Interlachen Country Club; the South Florida PGA Section; and PGA of America.
Doug Wert, PGA, is a PGA Certified Professional in Golf Operations and Executive Management and will serve the Georgia PGA Section. Prior to starting his role as a Career Consultant, Wert was a PGA of America Player Engagement Consultant from 2017 – 2023. A graduate of the PGM Program at Mississippi State University, Wert brings 40 years of industry experience to the role including stints playing on the Ben Hogan Tour, golf professional roles in the TPC network, the General Manager/Director of Golf at Penn State University Golf Courses, the General Manager/Director of Golf for Troon Golf and the first Director at The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs PGM Program. The award-winning PGA of America Golf Professional has garnered PGA Section awards in both the Colorado and Philadelphia Sections.
