Doylestown, Pa. (July 30, 2021) — Bidermann G.C. Assistant PGA Professional Zac Oakley successfully defended his title in the 2021 Doylestown Open at Doylestown Country Club in a three-way sudden death playoff. Oakley two-putted from 15 feet for birdie to top Rich Steinmetz, Spring Ford C.C., and Brian Bergstol, Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort, on the par-5 18th hole, following their rounds of 68s, 4-under-par.

“I tried to be more aggressive on the course today,” said Oakley. “I putted really well, and took more aggresive lines on my putts.”

Oakley went on to thank Doylestown C.C.’s membership, host PGA Professional Travis Deibert and his staff, outside operations, and food & beverage staff, as well as Superintendent Greg Marsala, adding the greens are as good as he’s seen them.

Braden Shattuck, Bidermann G.C., finished in fourth place at 3-under-par, while Ashley Grier and Trevor Bensel, both of Overbrook G.C., finished tied for fifth.

Doylestown C.C.’s own Ryan Rigby, finished as low amateur with a score of 77, 5-over-par, one stroke ahead of Rolling Green G.C.’s Gerald Haftmann, and Blue Bell C.C.’s Buddy Hansen.

There was a three-way tie atop the Senior Division, with PGA Member George Forster, 1912 Club’s John Allen, and Royal Oaks G.C.’s Terry Hatch each finishing with even-par 72s, two ahead of Eagle Rock Resort’s Eddie Perrino. Don DeAngelis, Spring Ford C.C., won the Super Senior Division at 4-over-par by one stroke over PGA Life Member Michael Versuk. Oakley also finished in first place in the Philadelphia Assistants’ Organization (PAO) Division, ahead of Bergstol.

The tournament is designated as a Philadelphia PGA Rolex Player of the Year Bonus Points event. The Section’s next Rolex Player of the Year tournament on the schedule is the William Hyndman Memorial Classic at Huntingdon Valley C.C. on August 9.
