Pagett and Teammates Go Low To Win Pro-Am For Wishes Pro-Am

WEST CHESTER, Pa, – On Sunday, August 27th Penn Oaks Golf Club hosted the first day of the Pro-Am for Wishes tournament benefiting the Make a Wish Foundation. The first round of this two-day tournament pairs one PGA Professionals with two amateurs. The format for the event is one best ball of the two amateurs, (with ams receiving 100% of their established handicap), plus the professional’s score. 

Leading the way in the Pro-Am was Dave Pagett (Whitemarsh C.C.) and his amateur partners George Pendy and Andy Bellwoar. The trio carded a team NET score of 13-under-par (129) good enough for a 1-shot win over Brett Melton (Radley Run CC) and his partners Marty DeLuca and Bill McCabe, whose team shot their 130 early in the day.  Finishing in a tie for third at 11-under par 131 were PGA Professionals Kevin kraft (Bumble Bee Hollow) and his partners Brian McKay and Dan Lannon and Dave McNabb (Applebrook GC) with partners Sam Rankin and Carlo Giraudi.

In the first round of the 36-hole Professional tournament, two Professionals playing in the tournament’s morning wave posted the low score for the day. The first to reach the number was  Brett Melton., he carded seven birdies in his round before having a double bogey on the par 4 17th hole for a total of 5-under par 66. Matching Melton atop the leaderboard was Kevin Kraft, he had six birdies and one bogey for his 66. Melton and Kraft will be joined by Chris Krueger (Kings Creek CC), who sits one shot back at 4-under 67, in tomorrow’s final group as 47 PGA Professionals and two amateurs (Jimmy O’Connor and Phil Petroll) return to Penn Oaks G.C. to determine the 2017 Pro-Am for Wishes Champion.
