PGA of America Golf Professional Anthony Sebastianelli Captures Philadelphia Assistant PGA Professional Championship in Playoff

Mount Laurel, N.J. (June 15, 2026) — PGA of America Golf Professional Anthony Sebastianelli of Whitford Country Club in Exton, Pennsylvania, captured the 2026 Philadelphia Assistant PGA Professional Championship at Laurel Creek Country Club in a sudden-death playoff with Logan Hay of Burlington Country Club. The annual championship honors the late past PGA of America and Philadelphia PGA President Dick Smith Sr.

The championship is supported by Srixon | Cleveland Golf, Golf Channel, Ohana Farm, SCNS Sports Foods, and the PGA Tour.

Sebastianelli entered the final round after opening with a 1-over-par 72 before firing a 3-under- par 68 in the final round. He finished the championship at 2-under par 140 and advanced to a playoff with Hay, who carded rounds of 71 and 69.

“It was a grind today,” Sebastianelli said following the playoff. “I knew par was going to be a good score, and that I had to be super patient, bear down and hit some good shots.”

He went on to thank his wife Emily, Pat Butkus and everyone at Whitford, the Section, and Laurel Creek for hosting.

“This place is in such good shape; the greens are so good,” he continued.

Sebastianelli also thanked Jamie Curran for helping him with get back into competitive shape after tearing his labrum last year.

Bidermann Golf Club’s Zac Oakley tied for third place with Austin Barbin, Chesapeake Bay Golf Club. Zach Barbin, Chesapeake Bay Golf Club, finished in fifth place.

Six Philadelphia PGA Professionals qualified for this year’s Assistant PGA Professional Championship at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida, November 12-15: Anthony Sebastianelli, Whitford Country Club; Logan Hay, Burlington Country Club; Zac Oakley, Bidermann Golf Club; Austin Barbin, Chesapeake Bay Golf Club; Zach Barbin, Chesapeake Bay Golf Club; and Trevor Bensel, LuLu Country Club. Zach Barbin had already secured his exemption thanks to his finish in the 2025 championship. Alternates include: Andrew Cornish, Llanerch Country Club; Matthew Cocco, Tavistock Country Club; Andrew Turner, Green Valley Country Club; Brian Bergstol, Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort; and Rocco Sgrillo, John F. Byrne Golf Course.

PGA of America Golf Professional Zach Barbin Wins 40th Burlington Classic Presented by WSFS Bank

Westampton, N.J. (June 8, 2026) — PGA of America Golf Professional Zach Barbin of Chesapeake Bay Golf Club in Rising Sun, Maryland, fired rounds 65-68–133, 7-under-par, to win the 40th Burlington Classic Presented by WSFS Bank at Burlington Country Club.

After opening with a 5-under-par 65, Barbin entered the final round one stroke off the lead. He followed with a 2-under-par 68 in the final round to post a two-day total of 133 (-7), edging Michael Chanaud of Bear Trap Dues by one stroke to claim victory.

“I love this golf course. It suits my eye really well,” said Barbin. “This is the first time I’ve won a tournament that I’ve won before, so it is a great feeling.”

He went on to thank Jesus and his mother, who has been battling cancer in recent months. He says she has served as inspiration throughout this season.

Barbin finished atop the field at 7-under-par. Michael Chanaud finished runner up at 6-under-par, while Dave Quinn of Laurel Creek Country Club placed third at 5-under-par. Jason Wilson of Bethlehem Golf Club and Brian Kelly tied for fourth at 3-under-par to round out the top five.

Quinn led the Senior Division at 5-under-par after rounds of 66-69-135. Jason Wilson of Bethlehem Country Club and Brian Kelly of Titleist FitCrew tied for second at 3-under-par, while Mark Sheftic of Sunnybrook Gold Club finished fourth at even-par. Rich Steinmetz of Spring Ford Country Club and Terry Hatch of Royal Oaks Golf Club tied for fifth at 1-over-par.

Bill Sautter of Philadelphia Cricket Club claimed the Super Senior Division title with rounds of 74-71 (+5). Sautter finished three strokes clear of Greg Farrow of Deerwood Country Club, and Wayne Phillips of Lehigh Country Club, who tied for second at 148 (+8).

Tom Byrne recorded rounds of 74-76–150 (+10) to finish as low amateur and win the Marotto Cup by two strokes over Bill Murray. Corey Katzen finished in third place at 16-over-par, while Rob Bell rounded out the amateur race at +17. –Sydney Urbach

PGA of America Golf Professionals Chanaud, Stolz, Lead Parris, Parris, and Devaney to Victory in the 40th Burlington Classic Pro-Am Presented by WSFS Bank

Westampton, N.J. (June 7, 2026) — PGA of America Golf Professionals  Michael Chanaud of Bear Trap Dunes, and Richard Stolz of Go Golf, LLC, led their team of amateurs Ryan Parris, Andrew Parris and Conner Devaney to victory in the 40th Burlington Classic Pro-Am Presented by WSFS Bank at Burlington Country Club.

The winning team finished with an astounding team score of 29-under-par in the Two Best of Five format to top the team of PGA Professionals Anthony Sebastianelli of Whitford Country Club and Andy Hewitt of Cripple Creek Country Club and their team of amateurs, Bill Murray, Tom Matera and Mayank Patel by two strokes. Three teams tied for third place at 22-under-par: Michael Little of Clubhouse 54, Danie Steyn of Julian Krinsky School of Golf, Tom Manna, Mike Kelly, and Bill Hnatiuk; Brian Bergstol of Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort, Steve Wager of Toftrees Golf Resort, Thom Chamberlain, Chris Rose, and Bob Fredrickson; and Mike Caldwell of DuPont Country Club, Jason Wilson from Bethlehem Golf Club, Jake Wig, Mark Hinke and Brian Powell.

The individual PGA Professional event will conclude on Monday, June 7, and is currently being led by Dave Pagett of Whitemarsh Valley Country Club, Tony Perla from Huntingdon Valley Country Club and Michael Chanaud out of Bear Trap Dunes. The trio all shot a score of 6-under-par and sit one stroke ahead of Chesapeake Bay Golf Club’s Zach Barbin. Four PGA Professionals sit in a tie for fifth place at 4-under-par.

Currently sitting in first place in the senior division at 4-under-par are Brian Kelly from Titleist Fitcrew, Dave Quinn of Laurel Creek Country Club and Jason Wilson from Bethlehem Golf Club. Shooting 3-under-par, and sitting in fourth place Carlisle Country Club’s Steve Swartz and Terry Hatch from Royal Oaks Golf Club.

Leading the super senior division in a tie at four-over-par were Lehigh Country Club’s Wayne Philips, Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Bill Sautter and Deerwood Country Club’s Greg Farrow.

Four amateurs from the first round advanced to the final round to compete for low amateur honors and the Marotto Medal on Monday, alongside the PGA Professional field: Bill Murray, Tom Byrne, Rob Bell, and Corey Katzen.

PGA of America Golf Professionals Michael Caldwell, Andrew Turner Win at The Hutch 

Reading, Pa. (June 4, 2026) —  Andrew Turner, PGA, of Green Valley Country Club took first place in the PGA Professional Division with a score of 5-under-par at the Hutch Invitational at Berkshire Country Club.

In the Four-Ball competition, Mike Caldwell, PGA, of Dupont Country Club and his partner Ronald Fields captured victory posting a 10-under-par net score of 61.

The duo finished two strokes ahead of the teams of Scott Reilly, PGA, of Philadelphia Country Club and his partner James Gradisek, and Tom Michaels, PGA, of Berkshire Country Club and his partner Jacques Jacobson, who shared second place at 8-under-par net. Andrew Turner, PGA, of Green Valley Country Club and his partner John Gobright finished fourth at 7-under-par, while Riley Wheeldon, PGA, of Aronimink Golf Club and his partner Chris Brolley, tied for fifth with Dustin McCormick, PGA, of Glen Brook Golf Club and his partner Albert McCormick at 6-under-par.

Scott and Karen Hutchinson have been longtime supporters of the Philadelphia PGA Section and the PGA of America REACH Foundation Philadelphia, the Section’s 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, and also support the Philadelphia Players Championship at Lookaway Golf Club. The Hutchinsons established the Hutch to provide an additional playing opportunity to PGA Professionals who prioritize competitive golf while also successfully balancing their careers and partner relationships. The Hutch is a limited field event with the Hutchinsons extending invitations to 32 PGA Professionals. We at the Philadelphia PGA Section thank Scott and Karen Hutchinson for their amazing generosity and continued support. Today’s event was also supported by Holderness & Bourne.

Post round, Turner shared his thoughts on the win.

“I really love this golf course,” said Turner. “It is a great layout and when it is firm and fast, it poses a formidable challenge. I was able to put myself in great positions on the course all day, constantly putting uphill which allowed me to make a lot of putts.”

Turner went on to thank Scott and Karen Hutchinson for their kindness in hosting this event, as well as his wife, Lauren, and Berkshire Country Club.

Mike Caldwell finished second at 3-under-par 68, while Dustin McCormick, PGA, of Glen Brook Golf Club placed third at 2-under-par 69, while Riley Wheeldon, PGA, of Aronimink Golf Club finished fourth at 1-under-par 70. Jeff Fick, PGA, of Moselem Springs Golf Club rounded out the top five at even-par 71.

Teams From Whitford, Tavistock Country Clubs Tie for 2026 Philadelphia PGA Professional-Assistant Professional Championship Title

Cape May Court House, N.J. (June 1, 2026) — The Philadelphia PGA Section returned to the Jersey Shore on a beautiful day for the 2026 Philadelphia PGA Professional-Assistant Professional Championship. Played at the Shore Club, PGA of America Golf Professional teams from Whitford Country Club and Tavistock Country Club tied for the title. Teams were comprised of one lead PGA Professional and one of their assistants.

Whitford’s Pat Butkus and Anthony Sebastianelli, Tavistock’s Michael Meisenzahl and Matthew Cocco, and Meisenzahl and James Shukdinas each finished with team scores of 7-under-par 65 in the Four-Ball stroke play format. Laurel Creek Country Club’s Bob Hennefer and David Quinn finished in fourth place, one stroke behind the winning trio of teams. Meisenzahl’s good play (68 on his own ball) also helped to notch him and his partner Christopher Hutchinson fifth place at 5-under-par.

The trend for Tavistock continued into the Non-PGA Professional Division with Meisenzahl and partner Chris O’Donnell taking first at 4-under-par. Manufacturers’ Golf & Country Club’s Peter Clarke and Clare Gimpel  finished in second place with a 69, one stroke behind the winners. Four teams tied for third place at 2-under-par: Coatesville Country Club’s Evan Mitchell and Zac Rambo, the Legacy Club’s John DiMarco and Noah Greenspun, the Steel Club’s Mark Chlebek and Scott Byrd, and Steel Club’s Chlebek and Tyler Gates.
