Lower Gwynedd Township, Pa.  (August 18, 2023) — On August 11 at Philmont Country Club and 17 at Rolling Green Golf Club, the Delaware Beach All-Stars and DuPont All-Stars won the 2023 National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Philadelphia Section Championship’s 13u and 17u Divisions, respectively.

The Delaware Beach All-Stars, led by PGA Professional Coach Chris Brosius, topped the All-Stars from West Chester eight points to four points. The winning team from Delaware Beach consisted of Patrick Thomas, Ben Fifer, Sahil Shajwani, Rory Spindler, Brody Rollins, Chase Thompson, Sam Metz, and Luke Peyton.

In the 17u division, PGA Associate Matt Finger led his team, Nick Belgrade, Landon Fox, Hannah Webb, Matthew Hoopes, Meredith Finger, and Joseph Kelly, to a a four-point victory over 4 other 17U All-Stars from across the Section.

Section Championships (and their Qualifiers) are the first of three phases in the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship Season, which highlights the aspirational nature of competition celebrated in a way unique to PGA Jr. League. The Delaware Beach 13u and DuPont 17u All-Star teams will go on to compete in the 2023 National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Regional Championship on September 1-3 at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va.

Ultimately, Regional champions will vie for the title at the 13U National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship at Fields Ranch West at PGA Frisco in Frisco, Texas. on October 4-8. The inaugural 17u Championship will take place Nov. 16-19 at Twin Warriors Golf Club in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico

PGA Jr. League is the flagship youth pillar program of the PGA of America’s 501(c)(3) foundation, PGA REACH, with the goal of making the program accessible to all youth regardless of background, circumstance or ability. Boys and girls ages 17 and under learn and play golf on teams, wear numbered jerseys and receive expert coaching from PGA Professionals.

National Car Rental was named the inaugural title partner of the Championship Season in February. PGA Jr. League’s biggest corporate partner since 2018, as well as an Official Partner and the Official Rental Car of the PGA of America since 2012, National’s new title partnership aims to continue fueling meaningful growth of PGA Jr. League and supporting the program’s endeavors to welcome more kids to the game.
