Michael Little, PGA, Wins 2023 Philadelphia Players Championship

Buckingham, Pa. (October 23, 2023) — PGA Member Michael Little of Clubhouse 54 in North Wales, Pa., won the 2023 Philadelphia Players Championship at Lookaway Golf Club by two strokes over Bidermann G.C.’s John Lynch, PGA, by firing an impressive 7-under-par 65.

Little previously worked at Lookaway when the championship was created by the event’s founder Scott Hutchinson. Hutchinson and his wife Karen help make the event’s purse one of the Section’s largest, at $33,000, with $7,500 going to the champion. Little’s impressive round on Monday featured six birdies, an eagle on the par five 17th hole, and one bogey. Today’s win is his second Philadelphia PGA Section win in three weeks, having won the season-long Match Play Championship earlier this month.

“I spent nine years of my life on this property,” Little said after his round. “This golf tournament means a lot to me. Without Scott Hutchinson, we wouldn’t have as many large purses to play for. We created this event for the players in the area, and I am thrilled to have won it.”

Little went on to thank his wife, his kids, his father who followed him around the course today, Lookaway Golf Club, its members and board, Equity Warehouse, Clubhouse 54, Little’s Ice Cream & Water Ice, Blue Bell Country Club, his PGA Coaches Braden Shattuck, Nick Biondi, and Mark Sheftic, and the Philadelphia PGA Section.

Three PGA Professionals tied for third place at 3-under-par: Rich Steinmetz, Spring Ford C.C.; Anthony Sebastianelli, Rolling Green G.C.; and Michael Meisenzahl, Little Mill C.C.

The championship also features a Senior title, with Steinmetz taking the top prize by three strokes over Linfield National’s Hugo Mazzalupi, PGA. Terry Hertzog, Bent Creek C.C., tied for third place with Brendon Post, University of Delaware, at 1-over-par, while Laurel Creek C.C.’s Dave Quinn and Royal Oaks G.C.’s Terry Hatch tied for fifth place at 3-over-par.
